Oak Park housing boards moving offices to Chateau site
The Oak Park Housing Authority and Residence Corporation will relocate from the village hall to the former Chateau Apartment Hotel at 330 N. Austin Blvd. in early January. The move alkats expanded rental assistance for 132 units in 1977 and a 12,000 square foot ground-floor space with a conference room. The authority, nonprofit, rehabilitates and acquires village housing and shares staff with Residence Corporation. A $308,000 housing bond loan approved Nov. 15 funds Chateau renovations including interior improvements, rooftop facilities for dancing and platform tennis, sauna and sundeck. Parking lot work at 114-116 S. Humphrey Ave. won’t begin until spring 1977. lease terms for the lot remain under village coordination.
