Forest Park Public Schools enlist residents to curb vandalism around four campuses Grant White Randolph Circle and Field Stevenson. Postcards urge reporting vandalism to police or school office and remind rules such as no ball playing near buildings and no dogs on grounds.
The outcome at Famous Liquor Store 7339 Madison Ave remains unresolved with at least two weeks to final results. Challenges by both sides loom over postJune 16 hires and picket eligibility as the National Labor Relations Board reviews the disputed ballots and rules on representation for Local 1540 Retail Clerks Union AFL-CIO.
Forest Park village board approves a hearing for a zoning variation at 1111 Dunlop Ave. George Rizek seeks nine townhouse units but offers six, with parking requirements changing from fourteen percent per unit to one per unit.
Village board adopts a 5.37 million dollar appropriation plan led by the Health and Safety department with 2.13 million. Street lighting receives 1.6 million while water purchases from Chicago total 245 thousand and salaries 100 thousand. Accounts and Finance gets 604,480 including 330 thousand for fire salaries. Public Affairs is allotted 603,000 with 460 thousand for police salaries. Motor fuel tax funds of 163,100 include 100 thousand for street resurfacing. New municipal building gets 400,000. Recreation and playgrounds receive 101,052 with 75,000 for Roosevelt Desplaines area. Library gets 70,300 including 30,000 for salaries and 12,000 for books.
The Forest Park Park District approves a combined budget of 265 800 with a 309 710 appropriation at a July 25 meeting. Surplus rises to about 101 020 due to higher revenue while the general corporate fund allocates 152 200. Bond payments total 35 455 for three issues. Public members viewed the ordinances before final passage.
