The carpenters union won a strike for higher wages ending a ten week tieup. Building work resumed Monday on the theater project at Ferdinand and Madison Street but brick shortages slowed start. Nonstriking imagemen, locked out by contractors, had no brick to work with this week while other jobs using available materials began. A new large store and office building is planned for the W. F. Cotton lot at Madison and Glire Avenue by West Bros, to house a furniture store and offices for The Second Acter, with ready renters anticipated for the office rooms.

Mrs Ernest Helleman of 1112 Holly Court Out Perk entertained the Women's Missionary Society of Forest Park Community MK Church at her home last Wednesday. Twenty five ladies attended with Mrs Huelleffeld presiding over a short business meeting. Three members joined the organization Afra Wiehalz Mrs J Dietz and Mrs Edith Heile man. Mrs L Reven, a former Chicago public schools leader, spoke on conditions in India. The group decided to hold monthly meetings at members' homes with a church rally every third month. Despite illness Mrs Belleman baked several cakes served with coffee completing the afternoon.
