Three day festival features 19 local organizations, German foods, games, rides, and dancing. Committees prepared for months to stage Bavarian style events, with entertainment for all ages and a “umpa-umpa” atmosphere, echoing Munich’s historic celebration.
The Reich and Becker office began about fifty years ago as Reich Agency. In 1931 Fred Becker joined, forming Reich and Backer. Ernest Reich, longtime Proviso township assessor, built a conservative, family oriented business. Now run by his sons and Mr Hecker, the agency celebrates its 50th year with gift awards and congratulatory messages.
The Park District plans to form a Horseshoe Club and asks experienced players in Forest Park to contact 7501 Harrison 366-0203 with their names and numbers. A. L. Austin, a World Champion, will assist in this effort.
Residents of the 800 block of Thomas urge demolition of the abandoned 813 Thomas dwelling. Agnes Coyne and J Prestia led the protest as the building is described as dilapidated and dangerous near an alley used by trucks. The council promised quick inspection by the building commissioner.
Fighting Marine Pvt. 1/C John C. Bruhn 18 son of Mr and Mrs Charles A Bruhn of 7420 Warren serves with the 1st Marine Division in South Vietnam. He helps capture or destroy enemy forces during large and small scale operations aided by Marine air units tanks artillery amphibian tractors and engineers. His unit aids Vietnamese people through self help projects such as wells culverts small bridges and schools funded by the Marine Corps Reserve Civic Action Fund.
Awarded EPA Honors Jere David Fluno CPA of 133 Rockford has been elected a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr Fluno is associated with the accounting firm of Alexander Grant Company in Chicago.
Captain John Y. Belmonte Jr. completed the five week Medical Service Officer Basic Course at Brook Army Medical Center Fort Sam Houston Texas. He is a St Mel High School Chicago 1955 graduate and earned a B S from John Carroll University Cleveland Ohio 1959. He earned an MD from Stritch School of Medicine 1963 and an MS from the University of Minnesota 1967.
