Masons from Chicago and suburbs gather at First Presbyterian Forest Park on Sunday Sept. 28 at 2 a.m. to honor Dr. Lou Wallace Gade for earning the 33rd Degree from the Supreme Council Northern Jurisdiction. Large attendance expected with Knights Templar in uniform and multiple local bodies. Westminster Choir to provide music under Mrs Colette Dayton.

The Brunettes Club held its first meeting on September 12 at Mrs. J. Papa’s home in Elgin. Mrs. Carl Dominik was elected president, Mrs. Thomas Scolire secretary, and Mrs. Michael Pusateri treasurer. The group planned weekly meetings and decided to rename the club The Greying Mother’s Club after fifteen years.

Carnival Spirit at Proviso Homecoming
Proviso Township high school gears up for Homecoming on Oct. 3 and 4 with a weekend of activities. The highlight is the Evanston Proviso football game at 2 p.m. Saturday followed by a giant Homecoming dance in the field house with Carl Schrieber and his orchestra performing from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. Alumni and students will enjoy dances, solos, and a carnival theme. Ticket sales start Sept. 29 at the game or the gate.

Catches Same Fish Twice At Sunset Bay Resort
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Slottag of 1130 Trogst, Conover, Wise, fishing at Sunset Bay Resort, Conover, Wisconsin, caught a walleye that had just escaped earlier. Herman hooked and lost the fish with his lure and line, then Mrs. Slottag reeled in the same fish with a 2.23 inch size noted along with tackle parts recovered.
