Sunday Bataan Day Observance Across the West
The Bataan Day event Sunday includes memorial services in churches and a 1:30 p.m. parade featuring the Sth army and navy bands, fraternal and civic groups, school bands, and veteran bugle corps, marching north from Bataan drive to a Maywood Village hall reviewing stand. Earlier at 7:30 a.m. the Pageant of Drums unfolds at Proviso East High School auditorium, a large musical review. William P. McLean says the day honors Company B and all who fought, with a goal to deter future war and keep the country prepared.

Kiwanis Kids Day Peanut Sale Planned in Chicago

Proviso PTA Proposes Bond for High School Expansion
The Proviso elementary PTA leaders and 100 plus members met Lumlay to hear details on a $1 750 000 bond issue aimed at enlarging Proviso High School facilities including 54 classrooms and cafeteria expansion. Raymond I Hofer and J Russell Hanson outlined research by the Citizens Advisory Committee and urged public questions as PRO seeks volunteers. Ernest Heitsch previewed a slide talk on growth from 83 900 in 1950 to 140 372 in 1960 and a projected 81 000 in 1970.

Village Plans Drainage Fixes for Flood Prone Alleys
Forest Park village council approves a plan to drain storm water from alley surfaces. Mayor Meyer and the commissioners found 22 flood prone locations and will install an inlet to connect to the main sewer line, pending easement and site work. An ordinance on all out shelter construction is held for near-term passage.
