Twenty five thousand residents lined Forest Park streets to witness a mile and a half parade opening the third annual Fall Festival sponsored by the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce. Highlights included Civic groups, school bands, Boy Scouts, and floats, with ongoing contests and prizes throughout Friday and Saturday.
The Senators lost 13 to 0 at Vogel's field last Sunday in a hard fought game. Pug Barnett Whitey Schmidt and Joe ran af the old Bears starred, while Tiny Wilson delivered a standout defensive performance. The team heads into a slate of strong opponents like Spokes A C Maywood and others, urging local support.
Maenterchor will present its 47th annual concert and ball at the Masonic Temple this Saturday night. Walter and his orchestra will accompany the event, with a capacity crowd expected and all music lovers invited to attend.
The Forest Park Post No. 44 American Legion installed new officers for the current year at a Monday meeting. Commander Frank Ste Grae, vice commander Norman Beandt, and other officers were sworn in. A dinner followed with officials from city and state in attendance. A Turkey Raffle and dance are planned for November 20 at the Legion hall, with Christmas and New Year events to follow.
The Forest Park Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1344 invites all to the fourth annual dance on October 23, 1937 at Sokol Taber ball on 16th Street and Clarence Avenue in Ter Wynn Illinois. Music by Elmer Gohr and his Royal Vagabonds with tickets via chairman Julius Jeschke Forest 1493-1 or any Eagle member.
The Sunday evening service at St Johns Lutheran Church features guest preacher from St Marky Lateran and a choir directed by A Heuns. About seven hundred juniors and veterans are listed to participate with the St Johns Choral Society performing under Cretelet Chair.
Frank Happy Clark is named postmaster at Hines office. A Forest Park figure for 14 years of service including 10 years as a carrier and current parcel post delivery, Clark is active in the American Legion and the 33rd Tank Co. He assumed charge last Wednesday and is praised for his postal expertise and friendly manner. Street dances in October at Water Works have been discontinued by the Federal Music Project.

The Dusky Follies charity show at St Bernardines runs Wednesday and Thursday with evening performances October 2 and following days. A children’s matinee is planned and refreshments will be served. Proceeds support the Vineet De Baul and Wheels societies as in past years. The revue is billed as more laughable and entertaining than prior years.
Forest Park invites all residents to a Sunday October 24 event at Ferdinand and Harvard Church. Dr Bryan Blalock of Pullman will speak and share a music program with readings by Elizabeth Curns Murphy and Henry Kracalile Murphy hosting.
The Safety Council invites citizens to attend the October meeting at High Life Restaurant 7301 Madison Street. Dinner at 6:18 followed by business at 7:90. Arthur J Stuhlfeier, Secretary, states the council serves as a clearing house for safety information and welcomes cooperation from residents and organizations.
Mrs Charles Brossard, membership chairman, leads Proviso high school PTA in Forest Park urging parents of students to join. The drive aims to reach a strong showing by week’s end and full membership tallies will be announced.
Forest Social Club hosts a party titled A Night of Fun on Saturday evening October 23 at Schwab's Hall 7218 Madison Street. An orchestra led by August Reding performs with no admission charge. Proceeds benefit Forest Park Charities.
