Mayor Howard Mohr reported strong public cooperation with the overnight parking ban at Monday’s council meeting. Police Chief Elmer Schnurstein noted under 200 cars on streets at night and street sweeping time cut in half since the ban.
The Mothers Club of Seguin School offers Claxton Fruitcakes at 1.00 per pound in 1 2 3 and 5 pound sizes as part of its fifth annual fund raiser. The group plans to build an Adult Activity Center in Cicero and seeks donations via cake orders delivered by Mrs. Vesely or Mrs. Hasselberg.
David Oswald, seriously injured last summer, will be aided Saturday as Schmidt's Bakery 7336 Madison hosts Doughnuts for David Day. Free coffee and doughnuts served by St John Girl Scout troops with donated materials and labor. Proceeds help cover hospital bills as David recuperates and plans to start teaching soon.
Kiwanis Eddy Anderson Jr. will soon join the club. Attendance at Kilts football games sponsored by the Club is picking up. Members urged to attend Sunday's game in Naperville. The nominating committee has submitted a slate: Charles Lelivelt president, Charles Gelsow vice president, and Earl Witt treasurer.
Abner Mesirow told about 60 Chamber of Commerce members that Forest Park must move forward to avoid depreciation. He urged closing part of Madison Street to create a parking-friendly mall and focusing on a small-town shopper friendly atmosphere. The Loyola University Medical Center project near Roosevelt and First will invest about 60 million dollars and employ over 1,000 workers locally. Urban growth and a new era for the town were praised by Mayor Howard Mohr and investors Howard Sammon and Cliff Marquardt.
The Betsy Ross PTA will host its yearly Pot Luck dinner on Tuesday at 6:30 in the Naval Ordnance building on Roosevelt Road.
The Altar and Rosary monthly card and games party will be held on Wednesday October 21. Hostesses are Mrs R LaRocco and Mrs H Hoh.
The Clancy Brothers perform at Rosary College auditorium on Saturday at 8 15 pm. Admission costs 2 75 dollars.
The Republican Women of Proviso plan a meeting at Headquarters on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by members from Hillside and all Republican women are invited.
Ray Duke and Robert Stockman will attend the Scout Commissioners conference next week at Cruce Lake Camp Lake Villa. Fred Pociak was a delegate last weekend at the 4 state regional meeting in Chicago.
A workshop for Girl Scout leaders and committee members is scheduled Tuesday at St Bernardines at 1 p.m. Leaders should bring samples of Christmas gift ideas. Ca dettes from Troops 68 and 23 joined Chicago Natural History Museum programs on nature proficiency badges. Mrs Goldstein of Troop 52 and Mrs Stockman of Troop 23 participated in outdoor training at Camp White Deer in Three Lakes Wisconsin last weekend to relay camping opportunities to troops.
Noreen Dorothy Burns daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas J Burns 1000 Marengo is listed as a freshman at the St Francis Hospital School of Nursing Evanston.
Herbert A. Strasser of 148 Lathrop, an agent for Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance of Philadelphia, has returned from the company convention in Colorado Springs.
