Dr Victor J Mintek, a Chicago area psychiatrist, is named Medical Director of River Edge Hospital Forest Park. Tom Collis Sr aged 79, father of a former Forest Park mayor, was accidentally shot in the stomach Tuesday morning. He had taken a pistol to Ray Hansen Sporting Goods on Madigan for repairs when he discharged it, unaware a cartridge remained in the chamber. He remains in serious condition at Oak Park hospital.

Senior Citizens Meet Each Tuesday in Forest Park
The Park Building hosts a weekly senior gathering from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays for Forest Park residents age 60 and older. Members socialize play games and bring lunch items with coffee and rolls for sale. The club plans a state charter and holds monthly business meetings the last Tuesday at President Alfred Dinkel's home 7648 Adams with officers Mae Geyer Lillian Kissman and Ruth Warner.

Dr. Melvin Pratt Dies at 40 Dentist Practiced in Oak Park
Dr. Melvin R. Pratt of Forest Park died September 26 at Oak Park Hospital at age 40. Survived by widow Adeline two daughters Marcie and Robin his father George a brother and two sisters. He served in World War II as a belly gunner and survived a crash. Funeral services were held September 27 with interment at West Lawn Cemetery.

Mohr to Retire Olsen Appointed Proviso Township Assessor
Roy H. Mohr announced his retirement after 26 years as Assessor of Proviso Township. The Proviso Township Board appointed George C. Olsen to fill the unexpired 2 1/2 year term citing Olsen’s deep knowledge of property valuations and his Forest Park residence. Mohr, 67, praised his public service and lasting friendships formed. Hit By Car Injures Woman in Des Plaines Crossing
Mrs Helga Jurdahl of 521 Beloit was struck by a car Saturday afternoon while crossing Des Plaines at Madison. The driver Marcia Sauer of Oak Park cited sun glare as the cause. Jurdahl suffered a fractured hip and a wrist dislocation.
