Major Edward Bittel a former Ohio resident reportedly took his own life in Frourse after a tumultuous spree described by Junin B. Wood. The article highlights dramatic feats by local figures and quotes Woods detailing the confrontation.
Wood's cable recounts a large raid near Marcheville as peace neared. Col. John V. Clunin and the 120th Regiment, with multiple battalions, push and defend positions under Brig Gen King while orders to cease fighting confusion lingered at dawn.
On November 15 at 1 o clock in Wyld Ave a burglar rushed toward a woman in her husband’s shop. The intruder fled through a window dropping some stolen tools. The woman, despite fear, grabbed about $500 in value and defended herself until help arrived.
A patriotic service at St. Peter's Church last Sunday featured the dedication of the church service flag with 8% Karn. Address by K J Downe of the Lutheran Brotherhood of America reflected on the Lutheran community. Mildred Schults of Oak Park sang, and Junior Jackies with Harland and Young led by Boy Scouts under Schuler assisted. the church was crowded.
Forest Park workers attended the North Shore club house meeting of the Girls Patriotic Service League, a War Camp Community service unit, with about seventy five representatives joining forces to review achievements and plan future activities. News covered reports from city clubs, a Thanksgiving program push, and a football game fundraiser for Loyal Citizens Cheer fund.
A large crowd gathered Sunday evening November 17 at Plane Presbyterian Church in Lexlige for a World War I era peace celebration to raise funds for the United War Work Campaign and Red Cross. The program featured patriotic services, musical numbers, talks by Mary Bleck and David G. Bangs, and a dramatic benediction by the audience, with proceeds of about 20 dollars earmarked for war relief efforts.

News from Beloit Avenue reports brothers John and Otto Hanneman, sons of Mr. and Mrs. A Hanneman, serving in U S divisions are wounded in the Verdun and Chateau Thierry fronts. Otto joined Dandy Aer at Camp Logan and reached France in May. John, drafted from Leroy Montana, arrived in June with the 802nd Infantry. Both describe injuries and ongoing hospital care. Their father H Hannemoth, a private policeman, and other family members are noted in service.
Forest Park Boys band will provide music at the dedication service for the Community Af HKc church at curves of Atlanta and Thomas streets next Sunday at 7 30 p.m. The public is invited. there is room for more boys aged 10 and up. They promise guidance to new players and will supply instruments. Also inviting anyone who can play any instrument to join the advanced club. call manager W F Dodds at 013 Beloit avenue. Regular band practice is Tuesday at Garfield school 7130 p.m. Drill night Thursday at 648 Beloit avenue at 7 30 p.m.
Sgt George M Thebes expresses gratitude for a cheer book and wine sent to Camp Bevier South Carolina. He notes health, references wounded and training duties, mentions promotion to sergeant and the end of wartime activities with Camp Jackson units providing artillery preliminaries. He closes by thanking Easter Forest Work supporters and Loyal Citizens of Forest Park.
A juvenile masquerade held at Mrs W J Moran's River Forest home on Saturday evening November 16 1918. Hosts Lu Joyoux Lucille Beatree Smith and Laura White presided as well dressed youths mingled, with prizes awarded for best costumes. Awards went to Friedg Mirk bolx and Jeanevive Wilson among others. Refreshments were served as games and fortunes evoked laughter and good spirits.
The St Rose Young Ladies’ Sodality of St Bernardine’s Catholic church staged The Turnbow Kimona a gay program Sunday evening November 17. Sixteen church members contributed with a Jackie band as part of the attractions. About 400 attendees enjoyed the performance and look forward to similar events.
The Associated Charities of Forest Park announces a Thanksgiving week drive to aid the needy, urging residents to stretch generosity beyond Liberty Loan and Red Cross contributions. The appeal highlights food, fuel, and service needs, including court work and institutional care, with donations directed to the Finance Committee at 244 Marengo Avenue.
