Oak Park defeated Proviso 13 to 12 in a hard fought battle before a large crowd estimated around ten thousand. Proviso, despite heavier weighs, fought back with key runs by Follett and sharp passing, while Oak Park capitalized on Drechsler and Pratt contributions. The game featured momentum swings, disputed calls, and a dramatic finish as Oak Park secured the win with a late scoring drive and defensive stands.
Emma Bucholz Lueker wife of Henry Lueker and mother of four died suddenly at home 08 Marengo avenue Saturday November 11 just before noon from hardening of the arteries and a brain blood clot. She was born March 10 1880 in Traska and married Henry Lueker twenty three years ago, residing in Forest Park. Survived by husband Henry mother Mrs Luckert son Arthur in navy daughter Sylvia and twins Hilbert and Bildungarde both sixteen. Funeral at St John’s Lutheran church officiated by Rev Marcus Wagner with interment at Concordia. The community extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
Alice Coomrade Schuster, wife of Rev. Fred Schuster, formerly of Forest Park, died at Cambridge Wisconsin on Tuesday November 14 after giving birth to a son who died shortly after. She was 34, survived by her mother ten brothers and sisters and her husband and son. Funeral services were held in Cambridge and later in Marengo Illinois, the bride’s boyhood home.
Kluhaliho club members and guests gathered at 498 Desplaines Avenue November 11 as Oak Park held off Proviso. A failed place kick by Proviso limited scoring while Oak Park’s defense strengthened. Proviso mounted aerial attacks but were repeatedly intercepted. The ball ended on Proviso’s 20 yard line with Oak Park winning 13 to 12.
In Oak Park hospital two Kozick couples welcomed a daughter for Mr and Mrs Joseph Kozick Sr and a son for Harold and Mildred Kozick. Edna and Jo Korlek also wed recently, while Mildred Kozick’s daughter is named. The tale ends with two delighted grandmothers and two proud new fathers strolling the streets of Forest Park.
