Memorial Day Observances Set Across Forest Park
The Forest Park community prepares for Memorial Day ceremonies led by American Legion Commander Ray Blook and Chairman Wal er Neubiser. A wreath presentation and service will be held May 30 at Beloit and Harrison with veterans groups, church and civic organizations involved, and a procession to 21 cemeteries to honor ten passed comrades.

Sunglasses stolen from car on Marengo address
Walter Kohnke of 1110 Marengo reported May 25 that someone entered his vehicle and stole sunglasses. Police inquiries follow as damage and loss are logged.

Dog bites mar open season on May 23 in area
On May 23 several residents were bitten by dogs. Eight year old Glen Busch was bitten while playing with a dog at 139 Desplaines. Delivery worker Oliver Witt, 24, was bitten at 7802 Madison. Emma Nosek, of Berwyn, was bitten while buying flowers at Roosevelt and Harlem. Thirteen year old Virginia Arnett was bitten May 25 by a dog tied to a tree that lunged and grabbed her thigh. Mrs Elizabeth Lambert Rivers and Robert T. Stickler, Pageant supervisor, were also present.

Speed Chandler Is Lyons Speaker at Forest Lions
Major Speed Chandler addressed the Forest Lions this week, recounting a career starting in 1919 with a barnstorming flying circus. He rode wing walking on a jenny, shifted from car to plane, and later set track records in auto racing. His feats have aired on Bob Elson's programs and appeared in columns by Winchell, Kupcinet, and Walker.
