Forest Park May 16 1914 board meeting considers salary increases for teachers and reelection of Nicely as principal. President J Cunningham reports that Nicely withdrew his petition and board votes to set salaries to meet needs while pursuing best interests of the schools.
The Phonograph Shop relocates from 4617 Maligow Street Forest Park to 381 Marion atrest Oak Park and invites patrons to a grand opening from 10:00 a m to 10:00 p m. Demonstrations include Edison phonographs Columbia Grafonolas and Radio products with a patriotic bake sale to support War breads and recipes for sale.
Several hundred children signed a petition presented to the school board at Tuesday night’s meeting urging the reinstatement of Principal Nicely. The note, written on behalf of students, expresses strong support for a teacher beloved by pupils and recounts how a majority vote favored keeping him in place beyond June.
