Summer Speech and Hearing Clinic Open to Grade Schoolers

C E A Moore, director of the Proviso Township High School Speech and Hearing Clinic, announced free services for grammar school students this summer. Disorders will be diagnosed and treated. parents should call Maywood 7000 to schedule. Enrollment closes in two weeks. seventh straight year funded by the school board after state funds declined. Moore also serves with the University of Illinois and the Chicago Lutheran Seminary. Olive MacSamuel's nursing school graduation is noted for May 16 at Garfield Park Community Hospital School of Nursing.

Proviso Grad Wins Silver Star In Korean Battle

First Lieutenant Donald Watterson, a 1940 Proviso High School graduate, earned the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry in Korea on September 25, 1950. He commanded a Marine infantry company on Hill 105, coordinated artillery and mortar support, repelled a 200-strong enemy counterattack while wounded, directed a withdrawal ensuring no casualties, and inspired his men during the action near Seoul.
