A May 1 bicycle race at Chicago Avenue and Bonnie View in River Park attracted numerous youths from Forest Park and nearby suburbs. Local riders Pahner Olson and others competed as prizes included a racing bicycle donated by dealers. Henry Nolan, from outside the area, won the first prize.

Henry C Grottke 617 Marengo Avenue Forest Park died at home Saturday May 1 after an extended illness. Born in Germany September 2 1857 he came to America at age 23 and helped build Chicago then moved to Forest Park. A fire on Madison Street crippled telephone service and destroyed a barn at 720M Sindixon street. Officials say a bonfire lit by neighborhood children started the blaze which burned eight feet of line and disrupted lines between Madison Street, Great Western trucks, Elgin Avenue, and Despliniow Avenue. The fire was spotted late and crews from multiple counties responded slowly due to delayed alarm. Property owner Cyretin U. Manor of Chicago reported. Service was restored the same evening after the company deployed all available lines for repairs.
