Car thefts and break ins reported in local area
Frank Notto of 7425 Madison reported two wheels and tires stolen from his car at Madison and Burkhardt on Tuesday. Jack Shea of Oak Park said his car was entered and a $300 drug sample case was stolen. An American Legion citation will honor the U S Naval Ordnance Plant for employing physically handicapped workers as part of Armed Forces Week May observances.

Art Bartsch Suffered Heart Attack at Work
Art Bartsch of 7053 Monroe suffered a heart attack at Suburban Oil Co. while at work. Local police took him to Gale Park hospital, where he recovered. He is an longtime Forest Park resident and known locally.

At the April Board meeting Superintendent Sifert announced Proviso high school has again been unqualifiedly approved by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. L. Fisher wrote that the Chicago meeting officially continued Proviso on the Unqualifiedly Approved list. The notice praised Proviso for cooperation and early work with schools having deficiencies.
