The Volunteer Action Committee for Community Services announces Angela DeRubis of 7506 Lexington St and Michael Trezise of 7726 Monroe St as local Forest Park youths chosen as candidates for Junior Volunteer of the Year 1972.
Village Council rejected requests for coin operated pin ball devices at Buds Big Burgers Deluxe Grill and Dewey's Sandwich Shop and noted a withdrawn Bowler's Club application. Commissioner Sansone argued such machines are not games of skill and can be rewired for free plays. Other notes include a sidewalk contract awarded to J and S Contractors, a WATS transit resolution, parkway tree allocations, and adjournment pending garage contract decisions.
Brady Wilson, 43, manager of Otto's Restaurant in Forest Park, died after a Friday night collision with a tractor-trailer on Lake Street near Bartlett Road while returning home to Streamwood. He previously served as executive chef for one year before becoming manager about three years ago. Frank P. F. Schreiber, Otto's owner, called Wilson a valued, pleasant leader who contributed positively to the restaurant.
Meals on Wheels volunteers attended a Health Board meeting on March 22 to report the program’s effectiveness. Senator Howard Mobr, mayor of Forest Park, thanked the volunteers, stressing the program’s reliance on their efforts. An association of condominium owners now includes residents from five Forest Park buildings. It aims to be an effective voice in local matters, with officers John Mayer at 7251 Randolph as President, Merle Adams at 215 Marengo as Vice-President, and Gilbert Livingston at 7314 Randolph as Secretary-Treasurer. Membership grows as new buildings complete turnover.
Forest Park children aged 5 to 12 can join an Easter egg hunt at The Park District on Saturday April 1. Prizes include six transistor radios from Reich & Becker and Trage Bros. Younger kids must be accompanied by a parent. ages 5 to 8 hunt from 11 to 12, ages 9 to 12 begin at 1:00 p.m. All eggs found are keepers.
