Forest Park Chamber of Commerce plans a three day 50th Jubilee Sale to restore dollars to their value of ten years ago. May 15 16 17 are target dates with aims to attract regional trade and top all prior dollar shrinking events. Mayor H J Mohr recalled Harlem era sales and directors endorsed the plan at a noon Casa Nova luncheon.

Poor Relief Abatement Lowers Proviso Township Tax Rate
Proviso Township real estate taxes will be lower, per Township Collector William Callins Jr. The total rate drops from 3.694 in 1950 to 3.450 in 1951, with savings from village and school rate cuts and an abatement of the proviso. Marine Corporal Warnock Returns to San Diego After Korea Service
Corporal William H. Warnock of the First Marine Division returns to San Diego after twelve months of combat duty in Korea. He joined the Marine Reserves in July 1950 and sailed to Korea in January 1951. His Florida-based parents and Forest Park area relatives await his homecoming. he is a Proviso High School graduate.

Proviso Republicans under James Jamieson held a Maywood meeting last Thursday night. Leslie Smith of Forest Park, candidate for State Treasurer, was introduced as a Proviso’s own candidate. Smith’s un-nomination chances were cited and the group urged hard work to place a Cook County man on the ticket. Smith was unanimously endorsed by the Proviso organization and backed by 29 country townships and 42 of 48 Chicago wards. Also speaking were Arthur Sprague for State Representative Orville Hodge for State Auditor and Phillip Mitchell for County Recorder of Deeds. Jamieson noted more than 3000 new voters registered in the township.
