Easter Promotion Kicks Off With 25000 Eggs

Easter Value Days run for a three day weekend starting March 0 as local merchants offer bargains. The Chamber of Commerce funds the event and gift certificate wrapped eggs may redeem for canned hams. Ser Castellani says merchants are eager to participate and ham winners claim prizes at Forest Park National Bank or First Savings and Loan.

Moose Women Plan Fish Fry Friday at Forest Park

The Forest Park Women of the Moose sponsor a fish fry Friday at Moose Lodge 810 Des Plaines. Serving runs 6 to 9 p.m. Menu includes perch with fries salad beverage or potato pancake plate at family prices. Open to members friends neighbors. March 8 Moosehaven Chapter night featured a cake contest and birthday refreshments hosted by Jane Rose and committee.

Little League Dance At Moose Hall April 10

More than 200 local Little League players are selling tickets for the April 10 annual dance at the Moose hall. The Metro Tones will provide the music. Mike Mohr is VP in charge of tickets and Milton Preuter also has a few left. This dance is the league's main fundraising event.

Legion Banquet Honors Past Commanders in Forest Park

Forest Park Post 414 American Legion hosts a Past Commanders Banquet on Saturday April 8 with roast prime rib dinner and varied entertainment. Cocktail hour starts at 6 pm dinner at 7 pm. Members may reserve through the Post or send to Howard Reese Box 12 Forest Park. Plate cost is 3 dollars. reservations due by March 31.

Dr William Sisson Elected VFW Post 7181 Commander

At the VFW Post 7181 meeting Dr William Sisson a charter member was elected Commander. The post reached a peak of 315 members last year with Sisson and a slate including Carl Schurz as Sr Vice Cmdr and others appointed for four year terms. Installation of officers is set for April 29.

Daytime Burglars Take TV Set at Thomas Street Home

A TV set valued at $200 and $100 in jewelry were taken from 846 Thomas Street during an afternoon burglary on March 14. Entry was gained by forcing the rear door. Police have descriptions of two men seen loitering in the area last week.

Purse Snatch Near Adams Street by Teenager

Mrs. Euzapeth Fraunhofer of 7223 Adams reports a robbery Tuesday morning as a teenage boy approached and asked directions then grabbed her purse and ran. The purse reportedly contained twelve dollars.

Water shut off announced for emergency repairs Thursday night

Charles Kramer of the Water Department announces a temporary water outage tonight at 11 pm for emergency repairs. The shutoff affects local areas served by the department until repairs are completed.

Fred Pociak announces the American Cancer Society Crusade opening April 1 with the theme Guard Your Family and Fight Cancer With a Checkup and a Check. He urges regular health checkups and donations to fund research as 85 000 Americans die yearly from late cancer, aiming to save lives and support scientists.

Forest Park Park Board Candidate John Hanley

John Hanley of 1127 Beloit is not a candidate for the Park Board. The election is on April 4 with the Park Building as the sole polling place. Hanley, 46, longtime Forest Park native, is married with three children and owns a home. He is active in local recreation and sits on the Forest Park Recreation Board.

Miss Lussow Capped In Candle Light Ceremony

Barbera Lussow received her nursing cap in a candle light ceremony on March 3 at Thorne Hall Northwestern University. The 1963 Wesley Memorial School of Nursing class at Wesley Memorial Hospital numbered 105 graduates, the largest in the school's history.
