Mayor Kaul Receives German Red Cross Decoration

Berlin honored Mayor Kaul with the Deutsche Rote Kreuz decoration for leading efforts to collect funds and food for starving children in Schleswig-Holstein. Through Kaul's paper, more than 350,000 was sent to Germany during the starvation period.

Last Friday night Proviso Township High School presented the senior class play Jonathan Makes a Wish. Barnard Burks gave a convincing Jonathan while Stanley Jacobson and Dorothy Snow provided strong supporting turns. Albert E. Barnes to Be Speaker for Women at Meeting

Albert E. Barnes will speak on The Standard of Governments at Forest Park Woman's club on Friday March 25 at 2 p.m. Mrs. Mark K. Christy of the Austin Woman's club will sing patriotic songs. Boy Scouts Troop No 4 of Forest Park will demo their work. Americanization chairmen from Sixth District Federation of Women's clubs will attend. Refreshments follow. crowd expected.

Fruit Man Killed at Crossing

Andrew Apsostolopoulso, owner of a Randolph Street fruit store, was struck by a Metropolitan train at Harjent Avenue as gates rose after a car queue. He died at Oak Park hospital. The truck was wrecked. eyewitnesses cite mis-timed train direction. Funeral held. he planned to join his brother in Greece after selling his business.

Village council blocks three signs and dye plant plan

Residents fought advertising billboards at a Monday meeting, prompting the council to revoke permits for three signs already granted by Building Commissioner Zahn. Man Shot During Melrose Park Pursuit on Desplaines

Police Sgt Mayer shot at Joe Marcie after a chase along Desplaines from Melrose Park toward Jackson. Caponi was detained, found with a loaded gun, and fined for weapons and resisting. The girl Lucy Helkart, linked to an auto thief, was returned to Geneva Home for Girls.

The village canvassed its election results showing Bann gaining four votes for Mayor, Mantete twenty one for Commissioner, Woes ten for Constable, with minor changes elsewhere. A counting issue arose when an envelope lacked the tally sheet, delaying final results until the proper sheet was found. Gold and Trann declared Mayor and Police Magistrate respectively, with a slate of candidates named for Commissioners.

Kiwanis to Hear Talk on Crime Life

The Forest Park Kiwanis Club plans to hear Jamee Curran of New York City speak on "A Vale from the Prison." Curran, known as "Jimmy the Trum," is a reform convict once active in New York's underworld. His talk promotes the straight and narrow path to deter youths, with a strong push for full attendance at Glya's Cafe next Tuesday at 6 p.m.
