Mrs. Petersohn, a Forest Park School Board candidate, seeks re election citing her experience during the modernization phase and advocacy for library facilities. She urges residents to vote on Saturday April 13 and emphasizes quality education for youth.
Bruce Sandelin, a chemistry major at Carthage College in Illinois, has received a semester teaching assignment at Carthage High School. He resides at 513 Circle.
Forest Park adds Charles E. Whelpley and Richard Archambault to its police force. Archambault, 29, lives at 7241 Jackson with wife Joan and three children, a Marine veteran with Korea service and Quantico training. Whelpley, 25, longtime resident at 434 Hannah, was an elite athlete with multiple college offers and pro attention, and he joined the department after a Friday ceremony.
The Village Council declares the Forest Theater unsafe and requires the owners to demolish the building following a health department recommendation. Attorney Edward O'Shea is directed to inform the owners of the demolition order.
William R. Loessy of 411 Beloit died March 1 from a heart attack. He worked as a building appraiser for First Savings and Loan Association and is survived by his wife Helen, son Robert, daughter Margaret Owens, and several grandchildren. He was brother to Charles McGowan and Ann Greenwald. Funeral services were held at Zimmerman's with a Requiem Mass at St. Bernardine's and burial at Queen of Heaven.
Linda Rudd daughter of Mr and Mrs Lloyd B Rudd of 7530 Brown Canton Missouri was named on the Dean's List at Culver Stockton College Canton Mo
John Hanley of 1127 Beloit seeks a Park Board seat. A Forest Parker for 48 years, he was born in Forest Park and educated at Field Stevenson and Proviso East. He and his wife own a Beloit home with three daughters and he has led the Forest Park Recreation Board as president for four years with youth sports involvement ahead of an April election.
The Field Stevenson PTA will elect officers at the 4 p.m. meeting Tuesday in the school cafeteria. A science demonstration by grades 4, 5, and 6 and an art exhibit by grades 1-6 are on the program. Refreshments will be served by grades 1, Land 2, and 2.
John L. Creighton Jr., son of Mr and Mrs John L Creighton of 1406 Elgin, completed recruit training on February 15 at the Naval Training Center in San Diego California.
