Forest Park Kiwanis members sponsored an aeroplane flight to press for reopening the Broadview Government Flying Field near Chicago. The event included over a hundred spectators, speeches, and a unanimous resolution urging immediate reopening and support for Chicago airports on the lakefront.

St Johns Tatheran school held its annual event last Saturday with a parade from Washington Street to Altenheim Grave. Police led the procession followed by Mayor Gold, officials, the school band, and over six hundred students and teachers. The afternoon featured games and entertainment in the grove.
North Side Boosters host a children's field day on July 4 at Grant school playgrounds from 1 to 5 pm with races games and 100 prizes for boys and girls. Ice cream pop and noise makers are provided. J B McEwan chairs the organizing committee with August Henze E H Witt S Carne Leathce Hurwitz Charles Meske Ed Jacobs and George Stover.
Foster C Eddy of 528 Elgin avenue after seven years here moves to Davenport Iowa. He is promoted to district sales manager for Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Co. He left for Davenport on Decoration Day to start in his new role. Mrs Eddy will stay in Forest Park with her mother Mrs A F Zarndt. An auto accident near Ottawa damaged his car. he bought a replacement Buick and continued to Davenport.
Rudolph Maiwurm Hall, former Porest Park boy now Oak Park architect living in Maywood, was struck in the left eye by a ball ricochet from a ratty tree on an Elmhurst golf course last week. He was taken to Westlake hospital Melrose Park and is reported to be improving with hope of saving the eye.
Mrs Bernard Van Lennup a well known Forest Park resident died Friday June 29 1928 at Oak Park hospital after months of illness She was Mina Desens born August 18 1888 in Forest Park married April 26 1916 to Bernard Van Lennup They had nine daughters and she was active in St John s Lutheran church Grant School PTA and Mathers club The funeral is set for Monday at 2 p m with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery
The board of education awarded painting Garfield and Field-Stevenson to Balst-Meseke Co. of Oak Park. Meseke, firm manager, lives at 204 Elgin Ave in Forest Park. J. J. Lombard Co. of Chicago, via Wesley Lehman of 1014 Elgin Ave, won the boiler upgrade at Field School. Bonds issued this month total $100,000 bearing four and a half percent interest, premium $1,100.
Mr and Mrs C W Haiek of 7733 Monroe and Mr Taylor were in a car near Madison and Franklin when the driver tried to relight a cigarette and lost control. The vehicle jumped the curb and crashed. Mrs Haiek injured her right knee, Mr Haiek sustained minor injuries. A B Friedeland of 1125 Marengo Avenue transported them to Oak Park hospital.
Bernice Bullard a 15 year old from Maywood had been missing a week. Witnesses say she was in Forest Park with another girl when they stopped at Jack and Jill confectionery. They asked for money, were refused, and promised to return home. Mrs Collis gave ice cream and believed they left for home until reading Bernice’s disappearance in a Chicago paper.
Forest Park fire department pumped out more than 100 basements during a nine day rainy spell peaking Sunday afternoon. Streets flooded and sewers failed to carry away water. Fire crews faced limited hose length and required conditions to operate. At Circle Theater water reached the basement floor, but basements largely emptied after rain ceased as sewers resumed flow.
Miss Louise Buchholz daughter of Mr and Mrs George Buchholz of 426 Marengo avenue sails for Europe for eight to ten weeks. She leaves from Polk street station Chicago at 6 30 Wednesday evening, boarding the S 5 Letitia at Quebec. She will visit Scotland England Germany Switzerland Italy and France with stops at Edinburg Glasgow London Berlin Rome Naples Paris, Paris for six days, and accompanied by Northwestern University group after a stop at Niagara Falls.
Public Service Heads honor Irwin Witt with farewell dinner in the district. Thirty attendees met at the Farm on River road where B. G. Smith district manager presided and presented Witt with a Gladstone bag as a token of esteem from department heads.
Mayor Gold and Commissioners Ber lines and Oswald attended the council meeting on Monday. Commissioners Brannon and Lange were absent on a fishing expedition. The West Suburb and Community council was granted a September 20 tag day here with funds to stay local. Health officer Dr Munslow and John Pries presented reports which were accepted.

Elmer Warner of Warner Paint Co and Henry Buenger of the Forest Park post office will sail from New York on July 6 for Harve France. They will be away two months visiting France, Germany, Switzerland and England.
A Kiwanis television demonstration aboard a Forest Park bound plane showcased the first successful in flight TV reception. Chicago figures including secretaries and managers witnessed live broadcasts from a plane with a special receiving setup, as engineers planned FAA approved TV broadcasting gear nationwide.
A Mor est Inn porter, Wills Irving, was found dead near Roosevelt road and Twenty fifth avenue Broadview Wednesday morning. The body showed six bullet holes and a crushed skull. J D Gill of Maywood discovered the scene and alerted police. An inquest was held Thursday. Irving, about four years with Forest Inn, was single and resided in Chicago. He was last on duty around 1 a m. Authorities seek motive as suspects are considered.
Thomas C Collis, proprietor of the Tuck and Jill confectionery and Ice cream parlor at 7414 Madison Street, plans a restaurant and lunch room addition. Interior work is underway, with new friezes to be installed and public notice to follow. Collis has operated on Madison Street for about sight years, starting near Madison and Thomas.
After months of inactivity the Forest Park District Executive Committee of Boy Scouts is reorganized and strengthened with new members. The new committee includes F. Young as chairman, L. J. Smith, Gustav Olson, Frank Berry, W. F. Cook, L. Smith, Edwin Barrett, G. G. Hafner, A. F. Melching, E. G. Komich, and Frank Rose. The first meeting was held Wednesday evening June 20 at the Gurfeld school.
A lively farewell Saturday at 7412 Warren Avenue honors Caroline and Emin Schwab as they prepare to travel to Europe. Guests enjoyed dancing and a luncheon, then opened a table of gifts with many well wishes for a happy journey.
