Home Repairs To Continue At High Rate
The Federal Housing Administration forecasts a sustained surge in modernizing old houses and building new ones in 1950. FHA insured property improvement loans reached at least 600 million in 1949, with Title I allowing up to 2500 for one family dwellings or farm buildings. Roofing, insulation, plumbing, and exterior finishing lead the drive, especially in rural areas. Since last summer no down payment was required for these loans, part of a program begun in 1934 that has issued about 4 billion across some 710,000 Title I loans.
