Harmony Monday Council Meeting Clamps Down on Disorder

Village council held its regular session with an orderly tone after Mayor Collis warned that disruptive conduct would eject attendees. Two resolutions were approved: designate a single signatory for village funds and correct a tax delinquency record for C. Flamm’s loan from the Home Owners Loan Corporation. The meeting closed early after adjournment.

Boxing Matches To Start For Forest Park Museum Benefit

Boxing matches will start on July 7 at Parichy Stadium to raise funds for the Forest Park Baseball Museum. The organization plans a summer softball school for boys and girls ages 4 to 18 each weekday afternoon at Parichy Stadium under W. H. Brown, athletic director for Forest Park public schools.

Mayor Tom Collis will throw the first pitch as the Tom Collis Boosters debut in Parichy Stadium in a new league game. The team, making its first appearance, aims to win six games and lead the South Bracket of the Illinois State Amateur League.

The Park District will abolish Thursday morning free mixed swimming due to crowding and safety concerns. Free days for grade school children previously allotted by gender will be discontinued to ensure safer, shorter swim periods and reliable supervision.

The Fifty juvenile instrumentalists led by Carl Mader will perform Wednesday evenings in Forest Park all summer under park direction. Sponsored by local groups including Forest Park Kiwanis, the concerts feature a mix of pop, semi classical, and classical selections with Mader conducting. The June 1 contest placed the band second in the department contest at a Veterans of Foreign Wars encampment in Rockford.
