A huge turnout in Forest Park marshaled by the Forest Park American Legion Post and Park District witnessed an all day Fourth celebration. A police of volunteers from Hoy Scout Troops 103 to 106 manned patrols while Paul Stone's Military Band entertained. a lantern parade sparked the fireworks finale.

Collision injures Harve racer near Harlem and Harrison
A collision at Harlem and Harrison on July 1 left nine year old Harve racer seriously injured. Witnesses say Edwin Shelby of Ludington, Michigan, won $41 in the race before the crash. Officers led the injured to a hospital as both cars, traveling at top speed, tried to stop.

Parichy Girls to Meet East Buffalo Team in Pair of Games
Parichy Stadium hosts the Buffalo-based Parichy Bloomer Girls in a two game series slated for Tuesday and Thursday next week. The visitors have played top clubs in New York and Michigan and are considered among the east’s best.
