Forest Theatre will close from July 3 to July 20 for repairs. Pete Nicholas, president of Forest Theatre Corporation, announced over 25,000 will be spent installing a new air conditioning system and remodeling the foyer and other areas to offer greater comfort to local movie fans.
Mr and Mrs George Mahkorn of 318 Cingle Ave were honored with a certificate of distinction as one of the oldest married couples in Forest Park. George is 80 and Emma 77, married 38 years. Mahkorn also won an electric shaver for being the oldest man who has kept a beard. He left June 25 for California to visit his son George Jr and will decide whether to shave or not.
Line of March crowded with 100000 spectators for Centennial Parade in Forest Park. Howard Mohr and committee produced a punctual, colorful event with 200 plus entries from churches businesses and civic groups. Notables included radio TV stars and many floats. awards given at the reviewing stand Madison and Thomas.
Randall Johanson of Chicago sustained a bruise to his right cheek after his mother slipped and fell on him in a park. He was transported to Oaks Park Hospital for treatment.
St John s Lutheran Church marching units join First District Fraternal and civic clubs including Kiwanis Infant Welfare and Sea Scout Ship 160 in a community parade scene. Bob Schulz the clown with horse and buggy entertains, with continuing coverage on page 12.
