Forest Park to absorb most of Chicago water rate rise
Forest Park will pay 2000 dollars more monthly for water starting this month but will not pass the increase to small homeowners. Chicago increased rates 33 1/3 percent from 12 to 16 cents per thousand gallons with effect May 1 after a January 25, 1857 council approval. The village buys Chicago water and will absorb the rise except for one large consumer, which may see a higher charge. The previous Chicago rate hike occurred in November 1951 from 8 to 12 cents.
