Forest Park high school students may swim at Forest Park Pool for 25 cents this summer, instead of 60 cents, upon presenting an authorized ID card. To obtain the card, send a letter with name, age, grade, and school to the Park District of Forest Park at 7501 Harrison, with a self addressed envelope. cards stop after June 15.
Nellie Mohr of 846 Thomas suffered a sprained arm Thursday when a car ran a stop sign at Circle and Harrison and struck her.
Anna Preiwisch, 62, of 624 Elgin, suffered a fatal heart attack Tuesday on the Garfield L platform at Harlem.
Lloyd Lehman announced the suburban American Cancer Society division has raised 130603 toward a 140000 goal for the 1952 Cancer Crusade. Forest Park residents contributed 52 percent while volunteers urge those not yet asked to mail life saving gifts to Cancer Chicago for credit to their community.
Andrew White of Maywood facing charges of attempted rape, murder, and assault with a deadly weapon will appear before Judge Edward Schultz this afternoon at 4:00 in the Village Hall. The case was continued from last week.
The village council debated civil service for employees and a $100 Cost of Living bonus at its Monday night meeting. The mayor supported a referendum on civil service, while the police department won authorization to purchase a new motorcycle to curb speeding along Roosevelt Read and Madison Street. Chief Cortina said the ride would pay for itself in four weeks as traffic violations persist. Payments on the bonus were promised to start immediately for current staff, with new entrants receiving theirs after six months.
Installation of officers in Chateau Thierry No. 5, Disabled American Veterans, will be held June 11 at 7 p.m. at 7218 Madison. Leonard R. Smith will be installed as Jr. Vice Commander and George Smith as Sergeant at Arms. Friends of DAV members are invited to attend.
A Gypsy woman asked for a match from William Jacobi at Forest Home cemetery and stole his wallet when he resisted. He retrieved it, and the woman fled. Earlier, a Gypsy woman tried to pick the pocket of Thomas Tropani at 1008 Lathrop last March.
Mrs Delia Hussey longtime Forest Park resident died at home May 31 after a months long illness. Widow of Charles Hussey a former mayor and commissioner. She served in local civic groups and hospital auxiliaries. Services were at St Bernardine Church with burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Survived by son Charles of Minneapolis two sisters and two grandchildren.
