Proviso East Plans 1965 66 Graduation Total 866
Proviso Township high schools finish the 1965-66 year with 1,663 seniors. Proviso East will hold class night Tuesday June 7 at 8 p.m. in the fieldhouse and graduate 831 students Thursday June 9 at 8 p.m. Also in the fieldhouse. Thirteen evening school students will receive diplomas and after the summer session two more seniors will graduate, bringing the total to 866.

Commendation Medal for Capt Lanphier in Vietnam
Capt Roger F Lanphier son of Mrs Mary Lanphier of 8288 Roosevalt received the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V while serving with Headquarters Battalion 3rd Marine Division Vietnam. He earned the award for meritorious performance of duties during combat operations.

Fines Collected In April In West Suburban Cook County
Fines totaling 57708 were collected in April by the Circuit Court of Cook County's 4th Municipal District in the west suburb. Most were traffic offenses. Forest Park led with 8622, followed by Oak Park 7618 Melrose Park 5994 Cicero 5925 and Berwyn 6530 in April.

Kiwanis honors two veterans and inducts new members
Two veteran Kiwanis members, Fred Becker with 40 years and Lloyd Lehman with 30, were honored for long service at a recent meeting. Randall Mitchell and Buff Meseke were inducted as new members. Last Tuesday, 58 new servicemen were treated to breakfast at the VFW Hall. A Night at Sportsmans Park is planned for June 22 with tickets through Mike LaRocca or Charlie Lelivelt.

Birthday Luncheon Marks Garden Club 35th Anniversary
The Garden Club of Forest Park plans a June 8 luncheon at 12 30 PM hosted by Mrs. Wm Kelm 512 Hannah with Mrs Ronald Zilmer as chair. Past presidents will be honored and guests should RSVP to Mrs Geo Holmes by June 6. The club highlighted African violets lessons and a state convention report, donated to the Forest Park Chamber and paid tribute to veterans at Memorial Day services.

Merchants Ready For Sidewalk Sale In Forest Park
Forest Park merchants prepare for a June 13 sidewalk sale with new and old merchandise on offer. Demonstrations and free samples will run alongside a Lucky Buck Auction where each dollar spent earns a Buck. The Chamber of Commerce will auction $200 in merchandise at day’s end. Discontinue Postal Savings System Ends 56 year program
Postmaster Melvin V. Mader reminded citizens with Postal Savings deposits that the system, operating since January 1, 1911 and recontinued in 1966, will liquidate accounts and transfer unclaimed assets to the Treasury on July 1, 1967. Declining public interest and fulfillment of its purpose prompted abolishment. Postmaster General Lawrence F. O'Brien urged converting holdings to U S Savings Bonds.

Park Board Officers Elected. June Meeting Change Noted
At the May 24 meeting Kenneth Stange was elected President and Milton Eggerding Vice President of the Park Board. Reappointments: Patricia Sullivan as Secretary Edward Huebner as Treasurer James Sarno as Superintendent and Joseph McGahe as Attorney. June meeting moved to the 16th due to vacations. 1966 swimming passes and Learn to Swim registrations are on sale with pickup Saturdays.
