Peter W Carney son of Mrs Elen Carney of 2 Stadia on Street Forest Park dies after months long illness on Monday July 15 1938. The funeral was held at St Bernadines Church with interment at Calgary. Survivors include his mother two brothers Joseph and John and another sister Mary. Friends Fred Moore Bernard Schmidt Max Neuman Fred Tradtke Clarence Troost and Al Traast served as pallbearers.
Herman F. Strunk, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Strunk of 201 Elgin Avenue, now at Camp Johnston, Jacksonville, has been moved from mechanician study to the instructors corps at Camp Johnston. He began teaching two months ago and will stay indefinitely as mechanics and drivers are in demand. Strunk, a Forest Park product and former Crandal Motor Co employee, was surprised by the transfer after serving Uncle Sam.
The Bunco club gathered Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. W. B. Shurtint’s home 7717 Moniloe Street with Forest Park members listed. Red white and blue decor plus refreshments followed games and members look forward to the next gathering at Mrs. W. M. Spilth’s home on Wednesday July 4.
A special school election is scheduled for August 3 2018 to fill two vacancies on the board. President WilMan Cunningham resigned and leaves August 1 to take a new post in Detroit. Members of the Ladies' Aid Society of Community Methodist Church visited Mr and Mrs Henry Troost in Dundee on Thursday July 18 for a country dinner. An evening of social calling followed at the Troost monument Works with several local residents named among those attending.
