Parking shifts to the south side of Harrison from Des plains to Hannah. Heloit avenue will close to restrict traffic. spectators are urged to walk and avoid crowds while park mounds stay off limits. Comrades in uniform will assist, and small donations are welcomed.

Judge Carmody Dies of Heart Ailment at 1035 Vernon Ave
Judge Michael J. Carmody of Oak Park dies at home Sunday noon aged 1035 Vernon Avenue from heart complications after nearly a year of illness. He served as Justice of the Peace, was Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Oak Park Council 1548, organizer and first president of Oak Park Kiwanis, and held numerous fraternal and parish roles. He was a veteran and active in St Bernardine's parish and local organizations.

Tom Whiting Dies Suddenly of Stroke in Maywood
Thomas C. Whiting editor of the Suburban Advertiser in Proviso Township died suddenly Monday after a paralytic stroke. He had led the paper for seven years and built local ties in Maywood. The body was sent to Mendota for burial with Masonic services. he is survived by his wife.

Playground Register Draws Over Four Thousand At Forest Park
More than four thousand residents joined Forest Park playground activities in the first week. Each morning features younger children with new sandboxes, afternoons host older youths, and adults meet 7 to 9 pm. Horseshoes are popular at the north side playground with a men’s tournament under way all week. Tennis classes run Monday afternoons at 2 30. Continued on page two.
