A fire on Lathrop Avenue injured a German and caused about 4000 dollars in damage to a residence at 210 Lathrop Avenue River Forest on Wednesday. A brick from a chimney hit a fireman. Separately Jacob Schwab at 601 Hight Street was burgled Monday night with jewelry and valuables stolen.

Esther Wagner Weds Dr Allen Stearn at Parsonage
Esther A Wagner daughter of Mr and Mrs Wagner of 206 Marengo avenue married Thursday January 20 at the parsonage church to Dr Allen B Stearn head of the Division of Physical Chemistry at University of West Virginia. She is a Lewis Institute and University of Illinois alumna with BA and MA degrees and has worked as a bacteriologist for the State Water Bureau and state health board. The wedding was private with only two families present and the couple departed for West Virginia University.

Rabbi Coffee spoke on The High Cost of Child Labor urging education of children with grandparents and school hygiene to reduce health issues. He cited infant mortality from ignorance and noted unemployment sickness and drink as poverty causes.

Wornat Park Moat No. 414 American Legion held a January 16 meeting at the Community clubhouse to organize a veterans auxiliary and plan a January 30 session at the Municipal Building. The post endorsed Rep Dick T. Morgan’s bill to create a $100,000,000 government loan program for service member homes and supported California soldier settlement land and canal projects. The 85 by 180 foot property sells for 7200 dollars. Plans include B O Sellar acquiring adjacent lot to build a 22 by 40 foot blacksmith shop. Scafidy will reside above the butcher shop and assume the existing structures including a frame building. Funeral services set for 2:00 PM. The deceased leaves a wife and two daughters, Lillisa and Marie, aged 15 and 1 respectively, and two sons.

Mrs Jeanette Kayes Dies After Illness at 66
Mrs Jesonette M Kayes daughter of Mrs Augint Pistor and the late August Pistor died January 26 at Hammond Ind after influenza developed pneumonia. Born August 8 1888 in Booneville Mo she lived in Forest Park since 1900 and married Alfred Koiser who changed his name to Kayes. Six children survive with her husband mother five sisters two brothers and many relatives. Funeral services were held at Hammond with interment at Forest Home cemetery.

Patriotic Fund Becomes Charity Association Dissolved
The Patriotic and Mallet Association, formed at war’s start to aid soldiers and sailors, was voted out of existence after an annual meeting led by Senator Fred Kooi. Its funds, raised mainly from tag days and entertainments, totaled 858.07. The money was finally turned over to the Associated Charities of Forest Park after ongoing disputes over its use.

Burglary Hits Dry Goods Store on 1542 Unirisocative
A burglar broke into a dry goods parlor run by Mr and Mrs Bred at 1542 Unirisocative and stole about 300 dollars worth of merchandise from a trunk in the basement. The thief carried items away in a large sack, separating silk from cotton goods before neighbors found the cotton later. Forest Park police are pursuing suspects.
