A school celebration honored Elizabeth White for twenty nine years of teaching service. Mayor and commissioners attended along with alumni and boards of education as Rev. Squadera urged graduates to pursue extended education.
A local group named the Citizens Committee of Forest Park formed in the municipal building to oppose railroad poles on Hannah Avenue. The slate includes Thames Trepunesse as chair and J E Miller as secretary, with plans for a January 22 meeting and aligned with village improvement aims and local paper support.
Hyln and Company announces a move to a new store this week promising improved service under current conditions. A formal opening will be announced later as trade resumes at the new location. Approximately ninety eight graduates from Forest Park, Groot, Garfield, and Rugere Field schools will be honored Thursday evening January 24 at Proviso Township high school. Eugene Field and Grant send many graduates. Attorney Walter W. L. Meyer will deliver the address. Stadolph Mueller presents the class banner. Clifries J. Wolke presides. Proviso orchestra performs under TL Lee Osburn with songs by Miss Lillian Acheafer.
Home Building and Loan Association of Forest Park organized at Fred Schoenfelds real estate office on January 10 with about fifty shareholders present. Officers named George Mahkorn president Erwin Biasine vice president Fred Schoenfeld secretary Varry Keercher treasurer. directors include Rentner Meyer Rentner Meyer Hollerbach and Braslug among others. Forest Park State Bank named depository. organizers expect to boost local home building and community growth.

Attrea Anderson a 27 year old World War II veteran died January 6 at Speedway hospital after four months illness. Forest Park Legion Post 414 conducted a military funeral from 1112 Gunderson Avenue Oak Park. He served in the 7th Machine Gun Battalion AH A84 al vision and was a son of Mr and Mrs Frank Anderson with five sisters and three brothers surviving.
A large crowd attended the funeral of Mrs M E Wagner at St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday afternoon. Rev August Bergdorf of Chicago conducted the service in English and German. Music was provided by a quartet. Undertaker Drechsler led the burial procession to Forest Home Cemetery with many friends following.
Provine Lodge No 245 Loyal Order for Moose plans a masquerade ball to inaugurate its new temple on Madison Street near the high school. The event is described as a big affair.
Provso High School seniors across 304 districts participated in the Olle Bell Administering Test of Mental Ability. Median scores show Provso seniors above state and district medians, with top scores reaching 75 and the district ranking fifth in performance.
Kiwanis members at Otto's venue welcomed Governor Ban Wentworth who installed the 1924 slate. Walter W. L. Meyer was named president with Albert C. Roos vice president and Wesley H. Welbe secretary. Officers included George Armbruckt treasurer Ernest Rejch financial secretary and Conrad Michalsky district trustee. Directors named were H. B. Hann H. F. Jacob George W. Warner B. F. Witt Ed Tow Henry Malworm and Cham Heidebach. Local leaders from Austin Kiwanis attended and invited Forest Park to a Columbus Park dance. Robert Perry Shepherd spoke on service science and Oak Park Signs Club provided music.
Dr Shepherd, Ph D, spoke to Forest Park Commercial Association at Axton Memorial Hall on Tuesday evening. He urged business leaders to join the normal classes, noting prior talks in Oak Park and praising the organization’s progress while Forest Park officials discussed campaign and playground plans.
The Forest Park village council revoked Al Hodges's license after a disturbance on Randolph Street and Marengo Avenue. A petition urged placing a mid block street light for burglar protection, but funds limit new lighting despite support from Commissioner Brisch.
William J Kaspar announces the opening of Kaspar s Pharmacy at Madison and Desplaines Avenue Forest Park with a formal opening January 28. The Chicago graduate pharmacist with sixteen years experience promises a well equipped modern store with a soda fountain and ample stock. He will move to Forest Park with his wife and child after the opening week.
Madison Street Yooster presided at Capitol Hall for the annual meeting. Reports from retiring officers were heard, new officers elected, and a program of entertainment followed. The Hoosier club has 11H members and faced a burden from streetlight installations, now paid.
Dr John F Fletach a Forest Park dentist and former commissioner married Esther Cannow daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Bannow at Kingligh Lath eran Oak Park. Only close relatives attended the ceremony with a reception for thirty two at Legion Hall Forest Park followed by dinner dancing and entertainment. The couple reside at 88 Lathrop Avenue River Forest.
Elizabeth Vierow daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Vierow of 812 Hand Avenue and CIat Langer were united in marriage January 12 at the home of Bay William P Bush pastor of St Peters Lutheran. A reception followed at the bride’s parents home. Best wishes were exchanged as the couple begins their life together.
