Naval Ordnance Plant Forest Park History Recalls Site
The Naval Ordnance plant on Roosevelt Road marks its 14th year in Forest Park. Once a race track and golf course, the site saw Harlem Race Track, Harlem Golf Course, and Jockey Club grandstands before being chosen for ordnance work. Construction began February 19, 1942, with equipment installed by August 8, 1942, and a 18 years ago ceremony commissioning the plant by civil and military dignitaries.

Two injured when an elevator plunged three stories at the pat storage warehouse located at 7240 ranklin.
