Raymond E. Morales, 17, son of Mr and Mrs E Morales of 7506 Harrison, finished two weeks of active Naval Reserve training as a seaman recruit at the Naval Training Center Great Lakes.

Man Saves Self From Bedroom Fire In Forest Park

Jack Campbell of Forest Park was rescued Thursday from a bedroom blaze at 355 Desplaines. He suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at Oak Park hospital. Campbell fell asleep smoking in bed, awoke, and tried to fight the fire before calling the Fire Department. Damage was limited to the bedroom, estimated at about $1,000. Insurance authorities praised the department for swift handling.

Van Thiel Leads Drive for Local Community College Plan

Raymond VanThiel of 525 Circle will head a Forest Park drive to inform residents of three townships about a proposed community college and technical institute. Voters will decide on Feb 29. The plan would provide first two years of a four year program, general studies, vocational courses, and adult training. Assisting VanThiel are T GC Schuster 537 Thomas Robert F Goldstein 1105 Elgin Mr and Mrs Albert Wahnert 7806 Harrison Robert Stockman 304 Lathrop and Leonard Kartin 7201 Adams.

Proviso Bands to Perform Sunday Concert at Proviso East

The Concert and Cadet bands of Proviso Bast high will present a concert on Sunday Jan 19 in the Proviso East auditorium. The Cadet band will begin with three selections Americans We On the Sunny Side of the Street and Golden Friendships.
