Liquor stores file mandamus suit on license
A second mandamus suit was filed by Mor Parke Liquor Co at 0427dison Street Forest Park to force City Clerk Charles Moseke to publish an amendment reducing tavern licenses from five to two and halt the five to two package store limit. The prior suit by three package stores and one tavern sought Forest Park issuance of the license, contending the amendment lacked timely publication. that suit was withdrawn after counsel Jessie Marcus withdrew.

Funeral services were held Thursday at St. Peter's Church for Eddy Schwab a longtime Forest Park resident. Born November 20 1911 he was the son of Gottlieb and Mary Schwab and lived at 439 Elgin He died January 5 and burial was at Waldheim cemetery Survived by parents sisters Caroline and Emma Kalley brother in law George P Kalley and niece Carol Mae Kalley He ran a tavern with his father at 7218 Madison Street and was active in multiple local clubs and organizations.

Robert J. McAuley Dies Suddenly After Long Public Service
Robert J. McAuley active in politics died suddenly at home on December 30. Funeral services were held January 2 at Zimmerman chapel with interment at Mount Noblem cemetery. Born February 27 in Chicago he lived in Forest Park since 1923, served two terms on the Forest Park board of education, eight years as clerk of the town water department, and was active in the Republican party and Crescent lodge. He is survived by five children and eight grandchildren. wife predeceased him.

Paragon club of Forest Park installed their newly elected officers at an open meeting held Friday evening January 2 at Schwab's hall. Incoming officers were Ernest Molzan president John Benedeeck vice president Henry Hintz secretary and Gilbert Thiesse treasurer. Retiring officers were Clarence Hintz president Wilbur Herrmann vice president Emory luge secretary and Howard Reich treasurer. After the installation, members and guests enjoyed a magic show by Orenda and a motion picture.

Village Files Suit On Taxes in Forest Park Case
Forest Park sues County Treasurer Louis Nelson to force distribution of all taxes collected. The village claims $23,192.54 is being withheld from 1943 to 1946 taxes, risking interest and wage costs while objectors’ challenges await county and state review. Village attorney Leslie Smith says objections apply to the following year’s taxes. Similar moves were made by Lansing and Thornton township schools previously.
