Lymon dtohi son of Mr and Mrs rook ful formerly of 7281 Matti won treat Forest Park Maryland arrived home on New Year’s day a wounded veteran. He served with the Dandy Fliat Prairie Division over the top on the Fourth of July at Hinonel Woods and was later injured in August losing use of his right arm. He spent months in hospital and is bound for Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC for further treatment. His arrival stirred local friends and residents who recall his bravery and sacrifice.
Forest Park letters report army movements and leave from Great Lakes. Walter Blossy’s recovery is noted as family welcomes him home from construction work in Koblenz. Robert Gordon Geradort’s Christmas arrival boosts 442 Circle Avenue. Circle Meat Market partners Amerson and Anderson face pneumonia illness. Committee will announce plans in this column and may invite attendance at the Community Sing by the Patriotic Community Council of Cook County at the Madison Theatre on Sunday January 6 at 4 30 p m. Loyal citizens of Forest Park urged to attend and honor the local servicemen.
Private George Kunz stationed at Camp Travis San Antonio Texas describes a Christmas menu card that brightens morale for service members. He mentions a company dance held in an empty barracks across the street and notes plans for a New Year dance as well.
A community blog style event at Sullivan Circle Theatre Sunday January 6 2010 at 2 30 pm under the Patriotic Community Council of Cook County. Ned L Yowne organizer will speak along with William Forkell who spoke at a recent rally. Soldier Lyman Stahl plans to attend before returning to Washington DC hospitals. Civil Federation Sing Leader and Loyal Chosens of Morest Park will participate. Free admission.
Under the Patriotic Service League a Get Together for all girls will be held in Forest Park at the Council chamber of the Municipal Building on Friday evening January 16. Carolyn Wicker will discuss European travel and family relations while talking on marriage customs abroad. Ann Trimingham of Columbia School of Music will lead the community wing. A good attendance is hoped, and every girl in town is invited.
About thirty Hitle people gathered at the Community Clubhouse on Saturday for the Neighborhood club’s Christmas party. Children performed a stunt onstage while elders laughed, games were played, and toys, ice cream, and wafers were served.

Four hundred children attended the Loyal Order of Moose No. 245 Christmas entertainment at Morgor'e ball on Friday night December 27. Santa Claus distributed candy and toys after an elaborate program featuring a choir, duets, vocal selections, and piano performances by local members and guests.
Sidney C Wilson, one of Forest Park’s boys, writes from France about receiving the Cheer Book. He says it brings “good cheer” during wartime, imagines soldiers missing home, and thanks the sender for the comforting book as he endures barracks life and longing for letters and candy.
