The local VFW Post and Volunteer Firemen announce an Operation ID program for Forest Park on Saturday February 24 at VW Hall from 1 to 4 PM. Stainless steel tags will record name address religion blood type allergies and next of kin for 25 cents each. Floyd Schultz calls tags a public service amid unrest accidents and missing children.
St John Church votes to fund and construct a three level 13 room school connected to the current parish hall on Washington Street. The plan by Stade Dolan and Anderson includes north and south wings with school offices youth activities and church meeting spaces. demolition of the existing school and the Circle and Washington home. Fundraising is led by the Finance Committee with a parish wide voluntary contributions drive.
Peter Burgio, president of the Forest Lions Club, announced a $150 appropriation to The Talking Lion, a recorded magazine for the blind. Funds from Lions Clubs statewide support quarterly copies for blind residents, including Forest Park’s Mrs. Phyllis Sterns who stayed up until 5 am listening to it.

Two men entered the Forest Liquor store at 7429 Madison Thursday at 11 p.m. They demanded whiskey, produced a pistol, and fled with $240. Police seek suspects and details.
Forest Park Chamber of Commerce creates a Real Estate Committee amid rising inquiries from residents and businesses about homes. Secretary Lorrayne Wick notes the town’s desirability due to transport links and a rapid highway system. The group will include local real estate agents and invite village school and church officials to monthly meetings. Future speakers include Evanston Chamber of Commerce official on shopping centers and Samuel Dean of Deani's Milk with state chamber ties. Forest Park has been named Village of the Week for a forthcoming Lee Phillips TV show.
Heart Drive is set for February 25 as 1.5 million volunteers will visit neighbors to collect contributions for the Heart Fund. Chairman Elmer Layson urges residents to welcome volunteers ringing doorbells and contribute to support Heart Association research education and community service in the fight against heart disease.
