Police Chief Cortina reports Forest Park's 1960 to 1961 crime rates declined across robberies 10 percent burglaries 5 percent and larceny under 50 dollars 20 percent with no murders last year down from two in 1960. Fines totaled 91000 up from 80600.
St John Lutheran Church staff and council gather Sunday for a reception welcoming Mr. and Mrs. F Schaap to the church staff. Schaap, a Ft Smith Ark native and 4th grade teacher, recently married Judy Bishop of Fr Smith. Also honored are newly elected church council members M Wiedbusch G Kirnbauer G Kelm J Husserl A Ramel A Seipp H Wende and Paul Rodeck.
Parents of Betsy Ross pupils urged to attend Tuesday's PTA meeting at 8 p.m. A panel discussion by teachers moderated by 6th grade teacher John Jelinek will address questions from current parent-teacher conferences. Refreshments served by 5th grade mothers.
The Ladies Aid Society of St Pauls Church holds two bake sale hours 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7508 Madison. Chairwoman Mrs Florence Potter invites donations and can be reached at FO 6 5742.
Suzanse Vandeburg a 12 year old from 1026 Marengo drank half a cup of bleach while helping with laundry last week. She was admitted to Oak Park hospital for treatment and observation.
VEW Post sponsors a Saturday night dance to support Forest Park new Cougar Drum and Bugle Corps. Metro Tones will perform and a $1 donation invites the public to help make the Cougars a standout community contribution. William Sisson predicts a record turnout.
Peter Mayer, one of Forest Park's original policemen, died Tuesday at age 92. He was father of Dr. Al Mayer, a local dentist. He lies in state at Zimmerman & Son. a funeral Mass will be offered at St Bernardine Church Friday morning.
Leonard Less of 7632 Wilcox marks 40 years of service in public utilities. He works as a dispatcher for the electric company in Maywood and attends Peter’s Evangelical Southern Church. He and his wife Hertha have four children, Wayne, Gary, Sharon, and Karen.
J. Léo Ash of Peabody Major named administrator of River Edge Hospital a $4 million facility planned near Roosevelt Road and First Avenue. The 350 bed hospital opens in October, specializing in treatment of emotionally disturbed and rehabilitation. It will be staffed by about 150 professionals and financed by a Chicago investment firm with Shayman & Salk as architects.
The Proviso Republican Warning Club announces a Candidate Night on February 14 at headquarters. Newly nominated April candidates will speak including Raymond Prafelet La Grange Pack for State Representative South District, John Bud IB br ien for Board of Tax Appeals, Claude Walker for State Representative 4th District, Marshall Quant for Proviso Township Committeeman, and Arthur J. Bidwill for re election 1st District.
