Kiwanettes Sponsor Card Party in Forest Park

The Kiwanettes Ladies of Kiwanis sponsor the St. Valentine Day Card Party next Tuesday afternoon at the Park Building 7501 Harrison Street. Proceeds support the Underprivileged Child Fund to aid needy boys and girls in Forest Park with door prizes for contestants and refreshments.

Raimondi Ill Will Speak Soon Campaign Update

Local candidate Raimondi Ill, running for education commissioner, has been confined by a flu illness this week. He cannot speak at campaign events yet but expects to resume appearances by week’s end and attend upcoming meetings.

Charitable Ladies Invited to Social Afternoon Support

The committee extends a cordial invitation to charitable ladies to join a social afternoon with proceeds aiding a worthy cause. Tickets are 35 cents each and attendance is expected to meet high hopes. Kiwaniana halted regular meeting last Tuesday to pay respects to Riwanian Otto Reich, whose body lay at Zimmerman's Chapel after his sudden death.

American Legion Plans Dance Valentine’s Day

Forest Park Post No 414 of the American Legion announces its annual St Valentine party and dance on Saturday February 1 with arrangements completed by committee chair Lloyd Lehman. Comrade Geo Hime of La Grange Post spoke at the Monday meeting about membership and employment concerns for those over 40 years.

At the Orchestra Parents meeting last Tuesday plans were discussed for transporting to the state orchestra contest in LaSalle Peru. The discussion covered travel arrangements and chaperone duties for the trip.

Start Program of School Tuberculin Testing This Week

The Tuberculosis Institute of Chicago and Cook county opened its 1939 county wide program of school tuberculin testing Tuesday February 7 at Riverside Brookfield High school. The program cooperates with Dr Spencer Fuller health officer Riverside Miss Harriet Hoekindorf Brookfield and Dr John McCarthy health officer North Riverside. The initiative has Glen Kelly as superintendent of the school. Dr Fuller conducted the tests. The tuberculin skin test shows infection history a negative reaction means no danger while a positive suggests possible worry. Institute officials note early disease discovery aids early recovery and prevents germ spread.

Otto Reich Passes Away Sunday

Otto Reich, 49 years old, longtime Forest Park craftsman in the plumbing trade, died Sunday after illness. Survived by wife Augusta son Vertton daughters Vivian and Veron and brothers Ernest and William. Funeral at St John’s Lutheran with interment Concordia cemetery. Pallbearers included George Gold Kurt Berliner Albert Roos and others.
