August Gag Klenske, born Forese Parke 239 Marengo Avenue, longtime resident and plumber by trade, seeks village commissioner. Independent, unaffiliated with any organization, he emphasizes taxpaying record and knowledge of local affairs and invites questions at any time.
T M Hurley Jr of 312 Thomas avenue Chicago born in Chicago and educated at Crane high Armour Institute and Barrett Institute of Court Reporting is a candidate for forest park commissioner. He has 24 years at the Chicago Board of Trade and is active in local groups including the Forest Park Eagles Knights of Columbus and zoning and transportation boards.
The Paragon club of Forest Park held the installation of officers Saturday evening January 2 at its clubrooms Vernon Reich acted as installing officer. Arthur Neubiser was installed by president Fred Mamm with Trving Rinmiller as treasurer Ralph Abel as secretary George Strasheim as chairman of directors and Allen Kluge Richard Oswald and Oliver Lueck as board members. Retiring president Ervin Huliebach received the Paragon Pie We appreciation for his loyal services. Other retiring officers Art Neubiser vice president Ernec Neubiser treasurer Herbert Petersulin secretary Erving Rittmuiller Karl Witt and Harry Neubiser were thanked. Refreshments followed and all enjoyed the evening.
The Works Progress Administration sponsors new term beginning February 1 in Forest Park with cooperation from Mayor Charles Hussey and village commissioners. Evening courses in typing shorthand accounting bookkeeping English and business for 10 adults meet at Municipal building 517 Des Nolaines avenue in Council Chambers next to the library. Free except small rental for typewriters. Register now to avoid waiting lists and gain essential business skills.
Mrs Nbeth Theresa Hoster Hasler a widow of Frank W Hasler and mother of Harald Hasler died February 1 1939 at her Forest Park home. Born January 12 1862 in Chicago she came to Forest Park in 1907 with her husband who died in 1920. Survived by three sons Walter Madison street merchant now in Miami Farol and others. Funeral Saturday January 1 1939 at Zimmermans chapel with Eastern Star and Rev Fred Semuster officiating. Interment Forest Home Cemetery.
Howard J. Prueter of 247 Desphines avenue announces his candidacy for commissioner. A lifelong Chicago-born Forest Park resident, he trained at Christ Lutheran Oak Park and Lewis Institute, with industrial management study at Armour Institute. He led Crane Manufacturing Plantations for 20 years, served on local boards, and is from the Procter pioneer family of Forest Park.
St John’s Ev Lutheran Church on Circle Avenue will observe the centennial of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Missouri Synod formed by Saxon immigrants in 1839. The ceremony Sunday at 7:30 features Rev E T Lams, district president, and recalls the denomination’s democratic church government and emphasis on religious liberty.
Vernon W. Reich, a young attorney raised in Forest Park, seeks the police magistrate post. A Garfield grammar and Proviso Township High School graduate, he earned from the University of Wisconsin and Vilnius Law School with top class averages. He practiced with a Chicago firm, now at 742 Madison Street, and belongs to several local clubs.
Jack Lyons withdraws from the race for village commissioner due to increased business duties. He asks voters not to vote for him, though his name will appear on the February 29, 1939 ballot per election officials. He thanks supporters for their confidence.
The Senior pastor will deliver the morning sermons at 9 o’clock in English and 10 30 o’clock in German. Wednesday evenings at 8 p m St John’s Ev Lutheran Church hosts a Bible Mission Hour in the assembly hall with gospel songs illustrated hymns responsive readings and practical mission talks.
Martin Schulz, independent candidate, born and raised in Forest Park, resides at 212 Marengs Avenue. For 24 years he has run a housemoking, raising and general contracting business, succeeding his late father Herman W. He is a property owner and taxpayer who fought for homeowners on boards and committees, opposing objectionable buildings in residential districts while supporting improvements to boost property values without raising taxes. He placed sixth in his first bid four years ago and now seeks election again with new and loyal supporters convinced he should not disappoint voters.
