Legion Auxiliary Flags Spirit of America February Emphasis
Forest Park Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary marks February as the month of Spirit of Americanism. Mrs. Mabel Weigel, chairman, urges citizens to display flags on February 12 and 22, honoring Lincoln and Washington. The unit has long supported the Forest Park Public Library with outside flags and will provide a new flag when needed.

Escapee from Pendleton Reformatory Arrested in Indiana
On January 25 an escapee from Pendleton Reformatory in Anderson Indiana was captured by Forest Park Police. The fugitive driving a stolen car was spotted by Lt. Lew Good and Officer Jack Conklin and taken into custody on Harrison St. He was turned over to Sgt. Wonnie Ross for interrogation and extradition procedures.

Pinewood Derby Night For Pack 102 Scouts
Pack 102 Cub Scouts of St Bernardine School held a Pinewood Derby on January 27 1971 in the school hall with blue ribbons for entrants. Richard Green won fastest car and Den 3 winner Brian Webb also placed in Den 3. Paul Jackson earned Best Workmanship with Tony Cirrintano and Eddie Lambken close behind. Steven Schwebl won Slow Poke. Mr Cliff Gustafson invited the three final winners from Pack 105 Field Stevenson for a March 26 1971 Derby challenge.
