In the grain building ward on the Speedway hospital floor five wounded soldiers recount schemes to outwit poets, boast of meals in their care, and share memories of overseas service. Proviso Township High School Opens With Strong Enrollment

The Proviso Township High School gates open for the new term on Tuesday September 6 with expected enrollment around 1000 pupils. Students making up summer work report September 6 for exams while those not yet enrolled should visit the school before August 22. Eastern Star social draws large crowd on grounds

A Tuesday evening land social hosted by Eastern Star ladies near Jackson boulevard and Beloit avenue drew a large crowd and strong committee praise. Elizabeth McNaughton Emily Brnet and Alice Brievogel led arrangements with other order members. Otto Flamm bought the Austin business on Chicago and Austin streets from Otto and Mrs Mielke as the Mielkes move to Maywood. The Flamm family plans to relocate with the business to their new home in Maywood.

Lamont intends to sell his pool hall and bowling alleys to Fred Brockman of 824 Elgin Avenue if a permit to operate can be granted. A Monday hearing was tabled due to missing commissioners. Thompson girl to visit Indiana and Terre Haute trip

Clara Thompson daughter of Mr and Mrs A Thompson of 540 Thomas Avenue has been staying with her grandmother in Atlanta Ga and at Valley Head Ala. She will travel to Torres Hante Ind this week. The Thompsons will drive to Terre Haute next Thursday and Clara will return to Forest Park with them.

Village Council Maintains Status Quo In Meeting

In the absence of commissioners Fietsch and Wendt, the village council held a routine session with key items tabled. Licenses were granted for Ascher Bros moving picture show and further permits were discussed for J Teacher and Fred Brockman while health and police reports were reviewed.

Blasius Family Shines At Proviso Lodge Picnic

The Proviso Lodge 246 annual picnic at A fenhelm grove drew strong attendance despite cold weather.
