Forest Park's Community Festival opens next Tuesday with the school picnic. Six rides and 27 booths will operate, prizes including a TV set and a 1957 Mercury at the grand drawing on the 25th. Dancing nightly and bands like Rammel's Hungry 5 highlight the event.
Pastor Erwin L. Paul of St John Lutheran Church Forest Park will preach Overcoming Loneliness at the 20th Annual Outdoor Service series Sunday at 7 p.m. at Village Park Harrison and Beloit. An organ recital by G Becker begins at 6 30 p.m. with Vernon Witt as soloist.
Gerald Wayne Holmes of Forest Park has won a prize from the Physical Science Laboratory at New Mexico A&M College for the highest scholastic average among freshmen in the School of Engineering for the 1955 57 year. Holmes majors in chemical engineering and receives 100 dollars.
Police logged two dog bite incidents last week. Tom Jacobs aged 17 months of 149 Desplaines suffered a finger scratch and Robert McDowell of 641 Rockford incurred a cut on his hand. Community outdoor services in August offer benched seating, lawn chairs, and blankets for worship.
St John Lutheran Schools begin their 88th year of education in Forest Park with about 70 pupils expected to enroll Friday. Donald Behnken named principal, to oversee education at St John Congregation. New staff include Robert Schuler and two Misses Poehler and Jagels with assignments at South and North Schools.
Siegfried Schroeder 33 Rockford Edward Allsworth 25 Rockford and Tom Foust 7142 Washington reported bikes stolen in the past week along with additional incidents.
