Obituary: Jack Hollander of Forest Park dies at 68
Jack Hollander longtime Forest Park resident died August 3 at Oak Ridge Convalescent Home Hillside after a stroke six years ago. He ran an advertising agency served on the Forest Park School Board Advisory Council Save Our Park Committee Boy Scouts as scout master and contributed art and copywriting to local groups and St John Ev Lutheran Church He is survived by Grace Erik his mother Beatrice Veam sister Ruth Manley brother Robert Hollander and many friends Funeral services were at Zimmermans Funeral Chapel with burial at Forest Home Cemetery on August 5.

Forest Park Public Schools announce the appointment of three new teachers. Mrs Wick, a local resident, joins as an intermediate teacher after student teaching at Forest Park Middle School. Mrs Pontikis returns as an intermediate teacher with prior teaching in Villa Park and Grant-White School. Mrs Welsbach becomes a kindergarten teacher, holding a degree from Northeastern Illinois University and student teaching at Field Stevenson School.

Car thief shootout endangers Hillside patrolman
Patrolman Michael Thompson escaped injury when three suspects in Hillside opened fire on his approach to a stolen Continental Mark IV with four wheels removed. Investigators, officers from six suburbs, and Chicago K-9 units swarmed the cemetery area as a second vehicle likely fled. A composite sketch is released as Forest Park detectives take over the case. Thompson nears one year of service on August 31.
