Two Local Senate Candidates Vet at Dinner in Forest Park
Forest Park hosts a Republican Senate dinner featuring two candidates from separate districts. Incumbent Howard Mohr of the 5th District and newcomer Richard Frederick Wood of the 21st sat at the speaker’s table for a $100 plate event honoring retiring Senate leader W. Russell Arrington. Over 1100 attended with U.S. Senator James L. Buckley as guest speaker, amid campaign seminars. Mohr’s district covers Forest Park north through Leyden Township to Des Plaines. Wood’s area includes Forest Park precincts north of Madison Street extending into Oak Park and Chicago toward Sacramento Boulevard. Mohr is a six year Winds Senate veteran. Seriously Injured in Cemetery Crash Injures 21 year old man
Fred Demkov of North Riverside was critically injured Monday after losing control of a sport roadster and crashing into an iron fence and brick pillar at a cemetery near 13th and Desplaines. He was taken by ambulance to Loyola University Medical Center and remained in intensive care. A separate incident involved a 20 year old man accused of using a stolen check card to buy gas and tires at Whitehall Service Station. he will be arraigned locally on charges.
