Village Hall hears clash over Cemetery zoning change plan
Forest Park residents packed the village hall to oppose a zoning change allowing Forest Home Cemetery Co to build two ten story apartment blocks with 120 units each on Des Plaines South to Roosevelt Road. The hearing featured six expert witnesses, as attorney Allen J. Fagel defended the project while attorney Lesle Smith led local opponents. The three hour meeting ended with active dispute and the issue carried to continued discussion on Page 4.

The Forest Park Board of Education at its reorganizational meeting on April 14 unanimously chose Harold Whelpley as President and Mrs Betty Reich as Secretary. Regular meetings will be on the 2nd Thursday each month at 8 p.m. in the Board Office. The next meeting is scheduled for May 8. Public invites attendance.

Local Soldier Assigned to Vietnam Duty
Thomas J. Rinna, 20, son of Mr and Mrs Valentina Rinna of 7345 W Madison, was assigned Mar 24 to the 9th Infantry Division near Dong Tam Vietnam. A cook with Headquarters Company of the division's 15th Engineer Battalion, he entered service Oct 1967 after basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and attended Proviso East High School before working at Coleman Instruments Maywood.
