Fire Chief Henry Lange announced a strict fire inspection of all village buildings, focusing on mercantile and manufacturing districts. The program seeks to identify construction hazards and enforce compliance after Rubin's Army Store fire exposed safety gaps.
Two residents saw a gray fox in Forest Park on March 31. Police officers Cortino and Steger pursued and killed the animal after it ran. The fox measured nearly four feet and weighed about 25 pounds. Chief Hartneck booked the officers for hunting within village limits without a license.
Funeral services for Mrs Hes sig Molohan will be held Saturday April 3 at 10 a.m. The body is at Beevar Bros chapel 4218 S Kedzie Chicago. A Forest Park resident, she moved seven months ago with her family to 5204 S Knox Chicago. Survived by husband Glen and two daughters Corinne and Denna.
Police report states Julius Wentland of Crown Point Ind rammed Henry J. Lawrence Jr of 4589 W Cermak Rd Chicago on March 31 at about 6 15 pm near 815 Harlem. Wentland’s car suffered a ripped off right fender in the crash.
Roy H. Mohr the Proviso Township Assessor will be at 7453 Madison Monday through Friday starting April 12 from 10 to 5 and evenings 7 to 9 for the personal property assessment. The final filing date is Friday May 7. Returns must be filed within ten days after receipt. If a schedule is not received the assessor may estimate value and assess a 50 penalty. Michael Max Gould a longtime Forest Park figure died at 2 30 am March 28 after returning from a Forest Park club function where he was a member He lived at 995 Cire Gould aged born February 24 1887 grew up in Chicago and worked in show business and as a clothes cutter He opened Parkside Clothes Shop on Madison Avenue about 25 years ago He was a charter member of Forest Park Lodge 1084 AFL AM Masonic funeral rites were held March 10 at Zimmermans chapel He is survived by wife Alice two sons Chester and Oliver a daughter Virginia Percy grandchild Winifred and five sisters.
Field-Stevenson Parent-Teachers Association sponsors a Pevoyage dance on Saturday evening April 10 at Curtis Auditorium starting at 8 o clock.
Forest Park Methodist church will burn the mortgage on the parsonage during morning worship, with Dr. Clarence Diercks of the Rock River Conference to conduct the ceremony. A reception follows in the parsonage from 1 to 3 o'clock. The longtime congregation, dating back to Onward Mission in 1972, celebrates debt freedom and looks to a more prosperous future under Pastor Kenneth P. Miller and lay leaders.
