Compromise Sets $1.25 Minimum Light Charge in 3-2 ruling

The New York Public Service Commission, in a 3-2 decision, allows Rockland Light & Power to raise suburban minimum a month to $1.25 and imposes a new tariff of 11 cents per kilowatt hour, effective one year. The ruling, opposed by two commissioners, preserves a lower rate than the company sought and notes urban suburban cost differences.

Midletown Teachers Awarded Chocolates for Savings Program

Accord Farmers Cooperative reports banner year in Ulster County

The Accord Ulster County farmers cooperative association finished a banner year with business totaling 272000 dollars. In 1926 the group purchased 252 carloads of feed coal crates cement fertilizer and fuel products including gasoline and kerosene.

Dr. Theodore D. Mills Dies at 74 After Long Medical Career

Dr. Theodore Denton Mills a Middletown physician for over 40 years died suddenly at his home 60 West Main Street aged 74. He retired six years ago and had served as consulting surgeon at Thrall Hospital. He was a Rutgers and College of Physicians and Surgeons graduate with Phi Beta Kappa honors and held multiple medical leadership roles in Orange County New York. He is survived by his widow a son and a daughter plus two grandsons and two sisters. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church.

Isaac A. Van Somel of Orange County was elected president of the Sheffield Farms Company succeeding Loton Horton who died in France December 15. LeRoy A. Van Somel was named chairman of the executive committee. Van Somel, born near Johnson, New York, moved to New York City decades ago and worked closely with Horton since the 1902 founding.
