Community plans an early learning center for ages 2 to 5 with a full day program five days a week. August opening planned, first come first served for forty one children, licensed by the State, with after school care to age 12. Contact Rita Kolodziej for information and registration.
Mrs Inez Jackson Lillian Inez Litchfield Jackson will be designated a Grand Lady by the 68th Texas Legislature in recognition of decades of Wilson County library service. A resolution will be presented by State Rep Jim Ockett July 1 at 7 30 p m in Wilson. Her descendants include 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She began work in 1940 as Wilson County's first librarian, drove the bookmobile to 53 rural schools until 1960, and remains active in Marcelina Baptist Church, cooking, crocheting, and hosting events.

The Wilson County Historical Commission announces a summer recreation program in Floresville with refreshments. The event is sponsored by the city and includes a community visit and activities at Marcelina. A Vacation Bible School session is scheduled for later in the vacation period.
The Floresville Memorial Hospital board met June 9 with Steve Smith named permanent administrator. Smith, interim admin for three months, was chosen from Hermann Hospital Houston under contract to operate the county facility. Board approved revised admission policy and engaged Allied Pharmacy Services for a full time pharmacist and unit dose system. A swimming meet is planned for June 23 at the Floresville pool at 5 p.m.
